Privacy policy

The Social Pediatrics Center of Verdun (the “Center”) has set up a policy respecting privacy and the protection of personal information to show its concern about privacy and protecting the personal information it collects about you either directly, by mail, by telephone or on-line.

Information you provide. Personal information refers to any information which may be used to identify you such as your name, date of birth, e-mail address or similar information. If you make a donation, we collect personal information about you in order to process your donation and issue a tax receipt. If you make a request for information on-line, personal information will be collected so we can respond. We may also collect personal information about you through other means.

Use of personal information. We use personal information we have collected about you to send you information about new fundraising campaigns and initiatives, notices about the Center’s efforts developing social paediatrics in the community and other information related to the Center’s mission. We may also send you our newsletter as well as invitations to take part in surveys and contests. If you would prefer not to receive such information, please let us know by writing to info@cpscverdun.com.

Communication of personal information.  The Center does not rent, sell or trade the names of its donors.  It may entrust the supply of various services to third parties, such as the sending of brochures, data processing, the filling of orders and technical services related to the web site. Such third party suppliers only have access to personal information if they need it to perform their work and may only use personal information as required to perform their duties, and for no other purpose. The Center remains responsible at all times for the protection of personal information and has an obligation to choose suppliers of services who follow the same confidentiality rules. The Center reserves the right to disclose personal information about you if the law requires it to do so.

Updating and destruction of personal information. You may ask us to destroy or change personal information we have collected about you. To ask that personal information that has been collected be changed to destroyed, please e-mail the Center at info@cpscverdun.com.

Cookies.  Cookies are small amounts of data this site sends to your computer while you are visiting the site that can be recovered during subsequent visits. This information is stored on your computer’s hard drive and, among other things, it allows our site to distinguish between visitors and analyse traffic patterns to the site. Most web browser software automatically accepts cookies, but you can change your browser setting to prevent that if you do not wish to store the information on your computer.  How to turn off all cookies differs for each web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc.) so you may wish to consult your browser’s “Help” menu for additional information.  Please note that cookies do not damage your computer and cannot by themselves be used to discover the user’s identity.

Security. The information about you is kept in secure data bases and filing cabinets. You should note that no Internet transmission is ever fully secure or error-free, which is why we make no guarantees as to the security of any information that you submit electronically, which you do at your own risk. More particularly, e-mail sent to or from this site may not be secure, and you should therefore keep this in mind when deciding what information you provide to us by e-mail.

Links to other websites. This site may provide links to other websites. Please be aware that these other websites are not under our control and that this policy does not apply to such linked websites. We therefore encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit. The Center makes no representations whatsoever about any other web site which you may access through this site. In addition, a link to a website does not mean that the Center endorses or accepts any responsibility for the content or use of such website.

Minors. The Center is very careful in its communications with minors and does not knowingly collect information about them. Our donor communications are intended for adults, in accordance with our legal obligations.

Consent. By using this site or having been informed of the existence of this policy, you are indicating your acceptance to follow and be bound by this policy in its entirety, as it may be modified from time to time without prior notice or indication to you to that effect.  You are also indicating your understanding that whenever you submit information through this site, you explicitly authorize us to collect, use and disclose such information within the parameters set out in this policy, as amended from time to time.

Governing law.  This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. You hereby acknowledge that any dispute arising out of or related to this policy will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the district of Montreal, Province of Quebec.
